	Rev. William Emerson, Concord's patriot minister, built it in 1770 and witnessed here the beginning of the American Revolution on Apr. 19, 1775. Later occupants include R.W. Emerson (1830s) and N. Hawthorne (1940s) who lived and wrote in this house.
